What goes into SaaS development cost
The first lever is scope and complexity. A focused MVP, a full standard product, and a complex or enterprise platform are different amounts of work by an order of magnitude - an MVP gets you to the first paying users, while a complex build adds real-time features, heavy custom logic, and the reliability an enterprise buyer expects.
On top of that sits where it runs: a web-only product is leaner than web plus native mobile, which is a second surface to design, build, and maintain. Finally, the platform features - auth and accounts, subscription billing, multi-tenancy, an admin dashboard, roles and permissions, a public API, integrations - are each priced on top because they are real, separate work. The calculator above stacks all of these so the range reflects the actual platform, not a flat guess.
