Embossa is an iPhone journal, mileage and invoicing app for mobile notaries and loan signing agents, built by KUBERSTAR. This policy explains what Embossa does - and does not do - with your data.
On your iPhone

The short version
Your journal lives on your iPhone, encrypted and behind Face ID, and we never receive it. Backups are encrypted with your own passphrase and go where you put them. The app sends only anonymous usage counts, which you can turn off, and never anything from your journal.
Your journal stays on your iPhone
Journal entries, signatures, ID details, signer names and addresses, fees, clients, invoices and expenses are stored only on your iPhone, in the app's own storage, encrypted by iOS whenever the phone is locked. Embossa has no account and no server, and we never receive your journal. The app can be locked with Face ID or your passcode.
Backups and exports
A backup is an archive encrypted with a passphrase you choose, saved wherever you choose (for example iCloud Drive or another location in the Files app). We never receive it and cannot open it; a forgotten passphrase cannot be recovered. Journal PDFs, CSV files, line-item copies and invoices leave the app only when you share them yourself.
ID scanning, signatures and signing orders
Reading a driver license barcode or a passport's machine-readable lines happens on your iPhone; no photo of the ID is taken or stored, and fields your state profile does not allow are dropped before anything is saved. Signatures are drawn on the phone and stored with the entry. A signing order you share to Embossa or paste into it is read on your iPhone, with Apple Intelligence on devices that have it or with a built-in reader otherwise; the order text never leaves the device.
Usage analytics
Embossa sends anonymous usage events to KUBERSTAR's own analytics server (a self-hosted Plausible instance), such as "an entry was finalized" or "the paywall was shown", to learn which parts of the app are used. Events carry the app version and coarse categories only - never a name, an address, an ID number, an amount, a client or anything from your journal - and purchase events carry the plan's product identifier. They are not linked to you, not used for tracking or advertising, and no device identifier is collected. You can turn them off at any time in Settings with "Share usage analytics", which also deletes any events still waiting to be sent.
Apple services the app uses
When you tap "Calculate from home base", the two addresses (and nothing else) are sent to Apple Maps to measure the driving distance. "Add to Calendar" opens Apple's own event editor with the client, the kind of signing and the address; Embossa never reads your calendar. Appointment reminders are local notifications that show the time only. Apple's handling of this data is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
Purchases
Embossa Pro is sold through Apple's In-App Purchase system. Apple processes the payment, so we never see or store your payment details; your subscription is managed in your Apple Account.
Third parties
Embossa embeds no third-party analytics, advertising or tracking SDKs and shares no data with anyone. The only data that leaves your iPhone because of the app is described above.
You are the custodian of your journal
You decide how long records are kept and where backups go; the app never deletes a finalized entry. Your state may require you to keep and produce your journal for years, so keep current backups. Because we hold no personal data about you, there is nothing for us to access, export or delete under the GDPR or the CCPA; the anonymous analytics events cannot be tied back to you.
Children
Embossa is a business tool for commissioned notaries and is not directed to children.
Changes to this policy
If we change how Embossa handles data, we will update this page and the "last updated" date above.
